Cat No: Collection

image Collection on 26 Lighthouse Pages, with NS, PEI and Newfoundland. This mostly mint collection was unfortunately once damaged by water. The stamps were mostly all taken out of their mounts to dry, then placed back in. Some have resulted in unused (no gum) condition, some still have some gum which is mostly glazed by the mounts, a few have had their ink melt onto the page and some are undamaged. This collection would have catalogued quite high, and will need careful inspection to see the extent of the damage, which varies. The collection has been gone through to establish a "market value" ($2,623) which was used to perform an insurance claim. Sold as is, see scans online for an idea of the general appearance. (Image)

image Interesting Collection of Stamps, Forgeries and Proofs, starts with a collection of singles, with #1, 2 and 4 (all used with faults), a group of #s 8/13 singles (all mint with many NH, the 5c is used), four early forgeries, three different with curved SPECIMEN overprint plus a Spiro forgery of the 2c on brown paper. Then includes a collection of mint multiples of #s 8/13, including many never hinged, some plate inscription blocks (these catalogue $1,580 in Scott). Finally, we note a collection of plate proofs, some in colour of issue and some trial colour proofs, with singles, pairs and a block of four, a few have SPECIMEN overprints (a few small faults on some, and Unitrade catalogue value is $1,690). image Mint and Used Collection in Four Volumes, 1850-2000, the first three (1850-1979) are Lindner hingeless with matching slipcases and the fourth (1980-2000) is a Lighthouse hingeless. The collection is close to complete with many varieties not listed in Scott and overall has exceptionally nice quality. We note #1, 7, 8 (x2), 18 (unused), 1867 and 1874 50kr used, latter with Senf handstamp, 196c (used), 1908-16 Josef (mint or used), 1910 Birthday (mint missing 5kr), 1920 overprinted Parliament imperforate (lightly hinged), 1931 Rotary mint (all signed), 1931 Poets (very lightly hinged), 1932 Scenes (very lightly hinged), 1932 Artists (very lightly hinged and used), 1933 Ski Federation (used), 1933 Stagecoach on granite paper (hinged), Newspaper P1 and P7 (used), P4 and P5 (unused reprints) and more. Volume 4 is complete mint never hinged. Volumes 1 to 3 are two collections, with the used hinged to the page and the mint (usually) in the clear mount on the page. Often there are very fine used complete not visible under the mint as you turn the pages. An examination of several dozen stamps suggests most if not all of the mint after 1953 are never hinged. Overall lovely quality and includes pencil notes by owner including less than a dozen noted with (trivial) faults. (Image)

Some of the forgeries are identified by owner as Fournier or Spiro, and we note an original photograph of a Sperati forgery as well as some stamps with the same design as was used for the 1933 WIPA exhibition. image Lovely Old Time Collection in Two Volume New Imperial Albums, with a mix of mint and used from early classics to about 1936. Most of the countries appear to be present, except for missing Canada and GB. An above average collection with too many better items to list, but we note Antigua to the 3sh (mint), Australia #11 (used), Burma #O14 (used, $240), Cape of Good Hope with 9 triangles plus two fakes, good early Ceylon, Gibraltar #74 (mint $110), useful Hong Kong with 90 stamps, Mauritius #17 (used), lots of India and States, Australia and States including a New South Wales #B1 (used), South Australia #53e (mint, $190) and much more. Many stamps or sets cataloguing up to $100, and many more up to $50, we noted a good quantity of better postmarks throughout. The quality is average to better than usual, and we invite you to view our many representative scans online, or better yet view it in person to better appreciate the value. (Image)

image Collection of Mint and Used on Pages, mostly all in binders, with thousands of stamps and souvenir sheets. Almost every British Commonwealth country is represented, and we note some better stamps such as GB #O36 ($260), O32 ($40), O58 ($52) and 104 ($210) but those are faded or have heavy cancels, early British Guiana ships but these are flawed. None the less, many medium value stamps, lots of topicals, perfins, with very little duplication and potential for watermark or cancel finds. See our many online scans for a taste. (Image)

Best item is a Schaubek album for Bulgaria, 1881 to 1969, with an owner's catalogue value of $3,400.
