1921, Unissued 6d Abolition of Slavery, overprinted "Specimen" (Scott 87 footnote (1)), multiple Crown CA watermark, o.g., never hinged (!), amazingly bright and fresh, Very Fine. Certainly as fine an example as exists., with a 1974 B.P.A. certificate. SG 90s; £1,200 ($1,550). Scott $875 for hinged.
These 6d stamps were prepared as part of the regular 1919-21 pictorial issue and were sent to Jamaica. However, for political reasons, they were never distributed to post offices and the entire issue was destroyed. However, both watermarks with "SPECIMEN" overprints were distributed through normal channels by the U.P.U. (Image)
