This lot is quite strong in modern material (1990s and 2000s). There are lightly duplicated collections for Albania with 400+ stamps, Czechoslovakia with 2,000+, Hungary with 2,300+, Poland with 2,600+, Romania with 2,000+, Russia with 4,000+ and Slovenia with 1,000+, among these are to be found many souvenir sheets. Duplicated stock, usually in catalogue order with the number of stamps for each country is as follows; Czechoslovakia (1,500+ stamps), Hungary (2,200+), Poland (1,600+) and Russia (600+). Collections of Mint and Used Eastern European Countries in Three Albums, containing many thousands of stamps, along with a few souvenir sheets. The lot begins with a thick album containing a few thousand mint and used Romania, ranging from 1865 to 2010, primarily used up to the 1930s, with a mix of mint and used post-1930, with the bulk of the stamps ranging from the 1930s to the 1980s. A spot check indicated Scott #s 24 (m.h.), 26 (m.h.), 29 (used, c.v. $95), along with stamps and a few sets cataloguing $20 and up, including 196-206 (m.h., $219 total). The lot continues with a thick album containing a few thousand of mint and used Russia, ranging from 1889 to 2002, primarily used used up to the 1940s, with the bulk of the stamps from the 1940s to the 1990s with a good deal of completeness, with a spot check indicating stamps and a few sets cataloguing $10 and up. The lot concludes with an album of mint and used Yugoslavia, ranging from 1910 to the 1970s. A good lot for the specialist with the potential for finds, including better postmarks, along with a variety of topical and thematic material. Online scans show a representation, noting a few small faults with the early issues. Overall fine to very fine. (Image)
