image Ecuador, 1872, 1r lemon yellow, quadrille paper. 3x8mm quadrille mesh. Complete sheet of 90, showing almost complete ruled lines in sheet selvage which are doubled at right, constant prominent flaws include position 66 with colorless line in bottom right spandrel, position 71 with colorless line through "REAL" and positions 83 & 90 with lower right corner damaged; flaws with two nicks in margin at lower left one affecting corner stamp, small stain at upper right corner and some gum tone spots slightly affecting face, F.-V.F., with 2015 Moorhouse certificate.

Reconstructed complete sheet of 90, comprised of top pane of 45 in the lemon yellow shade and bottom pane of 45 in the yellow shade, constant prominent flaws include position 66 with colorless line in bottom right spandrel, position 71 with colorless line through "REAL" and positions 83 & 90 with lower right corner damaged; small closed tear in position 8 and minor flaws, complete sheet of 90, F.-V.F., a very scarce reconstruction, with only two complete sheets known, with 2015 Moorhouse certificate.

Fr. No. 2, Oct 4" octagon date stamp with date showing the original scheduled date of arrival of the mailboat (Ville de St. Nazair), Very Fine and choice, ex-Dale-Lichtenstein, signed Holcombe, Calves and Roumet, with 2010 Moorhouse certificate.

Block positions 25-27/34-36, ample to mostly large margins, in combination with 1865, ½r blue (1872 printing) on Judicial front with top flap to Quito, all tied by Riobamba cds's, dotted lozenge and manuscript cancels; vertical fold affecting block, pencil "15 oz" weight notation, otherwise Very Fine, one of the largest usages of the 1r yellow on quadrille paper known, ex-Longhi.
