image German Area, The Über Alles Used Collection, 1850-1954. Filling two Scott Specialty albums, a highly complete all-used collection of Germany proper plus States, Offices, Colonies, Occupations, Berlin and early East Germany; in Germany proper, much material (including earlies) is duplicated, offering a world of opportunity/profit; Classics offer a wealth of cancel types including target-numeral, c.d.s., railway, horseshoe and several rare Breslau daters; Reich material includes items on cover or on piece, many with commemorate cancels; note Large and Small Shields complete, Germanias/Symbols of Empire complete (including #65 and 65A), #664a (Hanover Fair miniature sheet) postally used (!), Posthorn roller and net overprints (including a set on piece—a real eye-catcher), Buildings and Posthorn sets complete; Coat-of-Arms, Wagner and Professions Semi-Postals, along with IPOSTA, Nothilfe Decade, two Ostropa plus duplicated Olympics souvenir sheets (the latter both on- and off cover), #B294-295 singly off cover plus the duo tied on-cover; Airmail Forerunners of the 10pf to 30pf Rhein-Main issue plus a Gelber Hund, all of the Pigeon, Eagle and Zeppelin Airs (the Zepps including a number of covers), Officials plus all Occupations (from Belgian to Allied); Berlin features all overprints (Michel #17-20 with H-G Schlegel certificate), Liberty Bells, etc., along with a #9NB3a-franked cover signed Dr. Dub; Soviet Zone slightly lighter, but includes #14NB16c tied to Registered cover; Offices are some of the most stunning we've seen, with Morocco and Turkish Empire appearing complete, China needing just two spaces filled; Colonies and States are equally breathtaking, the Colonies including the full regatta of Yachts, the States much better filled than normally encountered; the collector had taste, and it shows: there's not a single ugly stamp in the lot, with numerous certificates (or notes of signed items) accompanying, Very Fine in aggregate, immense catalogue value, though even this pales against the sheer quality of this collection—this is what we all aspire to.
