Cat No: Collection
Belgium & Colonies, Belgium & Belgian Congo, Balance of the Collection, 1849-2013. Virtually intact collection in 4 Scott Specialty albums; the Belgium is mostly used to 1866, including paper varieties of #6-8 and some duplication in the form of extra pages inserted into the album; then mostly mint from there onward, becoming all mint (with many used duplicates) in 1893; highlights include (mint unless noted) #23, 33, 35, 37, 47, 39a (used, expertly repaired,VF appearance, with a 2010 Michaux certificate noting only "adherences"), 60-74, then the Regular Issues & Commemoratives are virtually complete with some duplication, most of it used; the Semi-Postals appear to be complete except for the 1933 Orval Abbey set, B513a, and B605; the Officials are complete MNH O1-96 plus shades, while the Parcel Posts are nearly complete from 1922 onward. Also included are issues for the Belgian Occupation of Eupen & Malmedy (complete mint), a few sets of World War II Belgian Legion locals, and a nice, fairly complete collection of Belgian Congo (Scott $2,500), including used #11 & Q6. All-in-all, an exceptional collection, generally F-VF throughout, NH beginning about 1960 (the hinged material in the NH period was counted at 50%), with many earlier NH surprises, like B521-522, Q176-179, Q181-183, Q341 & Q343-387. Estimate $5,000 - 7,500. Suggested Bid $5,000-7,500 (Image)
