Bronze on black glazed letter book with printed 1851 calendar on inside back cover, with lengthy letter datelined "French Ravine, December, 29th, 1852" with a lengthy letter back home to his brother with many remembrances and religious overtones, later date of Jan. 5th "…I have been out to day with about 80 other miners to shovel a trail for pack mules to fetch in provision for us we shoveled it to what is called the cold spring Ranch the distance of 4 miles through snow from 2 to 4 feet deep…", he requests a long return letter "…it does not cost any more to fill two sheets ful than it does to send one sheet half full for the Express will pay single or double postage on a letter & delivery it for 1,50…", Very Fine for this.
