Substantial Melody of Civil War Song Sheets, "Light Horse Brigade" meets "Light Opera Guild"; over 120 in total, all but one published by Charles Magnus; surprisingly little duplication (our estimate is about 100 different), representing approximately 20% of his total of 500 illustrated ballads, with some titles present with different designs; nice range of material, with battle accounts, soldiers' thoughts of home, some slightly bawdy ("The Female Auctioneer"); note two by Stephen C. Foster ("Bring my Brother back to me" and "Was my brother in the battle?", the latter misattributed to "C.S. Foster"), "Grafted into the Army", "Viva l'America", "Darkey Conscript", many more; printed on the back of notepaper, some toned or with condition issues, but a sensational holding unlikely to be duplicated, Fine to Very Fine.
