1938 Howard Hughes Record Flight Around the World (AAMC 1307), rn1938 Howard Hughes Record Flight Around the World (AAMC 1307), legal sized airmail envelope with US, Russian, and French franking, signed by Howard Hughes and his crew at right side (Harry Conner, navigator; Thomas Thurlow, navigator/co-pilot; Richard Stoddart, radio engineer; and Edward Lund, flight engineer), addressed to "Lt. Howard M. McCoy/Wright Field/U.S. Army Air Corps/Dayton, Ohio," cover with creases, tears (including one affecting the Connors and Hughes signatures), and other small faults but still Fine, an exceptional piece of aviation history, one of the few covers carried on Hughes's record flight and signed by the entire crew, being offered publicly for the first timernThe addressee, Lt. Howard McCoy, was friends with Lt. Thomas Thurlow while the two were stationed at Wright Field in Dayton (a photocopy accompanies the cover with both mens names listed on a Wright Field directory). Also included is an original press photo of Hughes with his four crew members, as well as a copy of Thurlow's Flying With Howard Hughes: Diary of a Co-Pilot. This cover has belonged to the McCoy family since it was mailed to Howard in 1938.rn rn rn (Image)
