ONE OF THE FINEST RECORDED TERRITORIAL USES FROM GOLD DIRT.

Only manuscript postmarks are known from this important but short-lived stamping mill town. Gold Dirt was located in Gilpin County south and west of Rollinsville. In 1859 when prospectors flocked to Tarryall in South Park, they found a most unhospitable welcome. What's more it seemed as if all the best mining sites had been staked out.
