1796, St. Kitts to Trenton N.J., folded letter between two sons of Abraham Hunt, written by James to his brother Peter, business contents regarding the markets for various goods in St. Kitts, few faults, Fine appearance, Abraham Hunt was the most prominent merchant of Trenton. He was appointed postmaster by Benjamin Franklin and served for many years. On the night before the Battle of Trenton during the Revolutionary War, German Col. Rahl was engaged in Christmas festivities at Hunt's residence and his conviviality on that occasion caused him to leave unopened a note that warned him of the approach of Washington's army. "Rives Mich." Manuscript cancels, two 1846 stampless covers with manuscript "10" cent rates from son to family back in Colerain Mass., one datelined Dec. 27, 1846 and the other June 24, 1846 with interesting content including "…He may well called a merciful Being when I reflect upon my past life and see how I have spent my time it seems as though I might have seen things different but now I am determined to serve the Lord the rest of my days…" and talks about growing corn and oats and writes, "People are coming into Mich this season very much. There is 20 or 30 persons old and young stop in this neighborhood this week. They are connection of our neighbors from York State. Mich will be something sometime if we can get rid of so much Locofocoism (sic). I was in hopes when they was a blustering about the war so much they would be the first to turn out but it is not so they are brave fellows all but the fighting they do the baring and the Wigs the fighting…", each with an inked image at the left added on much later, Very Fine, Rives is not reported in the American Stampless Cover Catalog.
