image Revenue Stamped Paper, 1875-83, Liberty Type G, 2¢ orange inscribed "SAMPLE" (Scott RN-G1 var.), salesman's sample book from New York printers, Corlies, Macy & Co. containing 23 mint checks from actual banks, 21 of them with the orange Liberty imprint inscribed "SAMPLE" below the vignette and "INVALID FOR ACTUAL USE" below the imprint; all with the Corlies, Macy imprint; the cover is printed in gold on black, pebble-surfaced stock and the book is perfect-bound; overall size is about 8¾" x 3½" and the whole is incredibly fresh and well preserved. A most unusual collateral item. Very rare.
