Postal Card, 1886, 1¢ black on salmon pink (Scott UX9d), remarkably fresh and clean, Extremely Fine. A choice example of this rare card,
It was long believed that the pink stock was used as a marker to divide stacks of 500 sheets. However, in Bill Falberg's article in the July/August 2012 issue of Postal Stationery, the author theorizes a more logical explanation: that the printer, Daggett, who used this salmon pink stock to print registry return receipt cards for the Post Office, simply inadvertently mixed the card stock.
