Balance of the Freshwater Collection of United States, mint and used in three albums, the efforts of a collector who enjoyed studying the minutiae of these issues, and expanded far beyond simply accumulating basic single stamps, but rather sought out shades, postmarks, multiples, and proofs, all of which are found throughout, the first volume beginning with an unused 5c Providence Rhode Island (#10X1), as well as a 5c 1845 New York Postmaster's Provisional, multiple 1847 Issues including four used #1, and a used #2, 1847 Reproductions including a 5c plate proof, a used study of 1851-7 Franklins, including recuts and cracked plates, a similar 1853 3c study showing various plate varieties, worn plates, frameline varieties, recuts, and more, a cancellation study including colored, express, railway, and steamboat cancels, 1851-6 5c Jefferson including three different plate proofs, 10c Washington proof from reprint die, used multiples, and various varieties showing different recuts, a group of seven 12c Washington die proofs in various colors, 12c plate proof and used pair with attractive red cancel, 1c Franklin mostly used plating study, including pairs and strips, as well as an extensive study of the 3c Washington, 10c green Washington including multiples, featuring a strip of five cancelled "Paid", as well as a plating study, 1861 1c Franklin study, 3c Washington used group including postmark interest, 10c,12c, and 24c values with plate proofs, 1867 30c Franklin plate proof and multiple used examples, variety of 1861-6 Jackson, 5c Jefferson shade study, 1867 NBN Co. including double grills, F-Grills including used with fancy cancels, multiple Z-Grills, 1869 issues including one used with Japan cancel, as well as a complete mint set, all appearing at least part o.g., multiple red cancellations including 90c pair, as well as various plate proofs, extensive 1870-1 Banknote issues, the second volume continuing with 1873 Banknotes, including mint, used, and colored cancels, as well as lovely fancy cancels on 6c-90c issues, 1875 Continental Banknote issues including examples on horizontally ribbed paper, 1879 ABN issues including 6c with Japan c.d.s., 15c with "Wheel of Fortune" cancel, 10c used strip of four, 30c and 90c with "Sample" overprint, Kicking Mule fancy cancel on 2c, 1882 ABN Issues including 6c rose o.g. pair, 1887 and 1890-3 ABN issues mint and used, including plate proofs and shade studies, 1893 Columbian set o.g. and used, 1894 -1903 Bureau issues basic sets complete, including many shade varieties, in mint and used, 1898 Trans-Mississippi set mint and used, including a couple plate imprint pairs, 1901 Pan-American set mint and used, 1902-3 Regular issues complete used and mint to the $1, from then on to the Pilgrim Tercentenary generally complete mint and used as well as various other highlights such as plate blocks and strips, imperfs, line pairs, and more, over thirty pages of Washington-Franklins mint and used, coils, postmarks, multiples, and shades, the third and final volume includes the Prexies and back-of-the-book, including C13-15 Graf Zeppelin mint set, 1885-95 Special Delivery including shades, perf changes, etc., Parcel Post, Postal Savings including plate proofs, Postage Dues beginning with mint examples of the 1879 issues, Postal Agency in China including used 2c on 1c block of four, Canal Zone, Philippines, Officials including plate proofs and specimen overprints, as well as 2c, 3c, and 6c Executive stamps, Interior, Justice, Post Office, Navy, State, Treasury, and War Department, an exhausive and detailed study that took decades of diligent searching and research, cataloguing well into six figures, and a tremendous opportunity for the enthusiast to expand upon this collector's dedicated effort and achievement.
