image Giannini Pacific Union Full Face Ad Cover, c1863 [125338] P. A. Giannini, wholesale dealer in watches and jewelry... 622 Clay St., San Francisco, Has the Pacific Union red San Francisco cancel as well as a USPS SF cancel. Sent to Switzerland, but the extra postage stamps appear to have fallen off over the years. This cover has an interesting familial tie. Amadeo Pietro Giannini (A.P. Giannini) founded the Bank of Italy and hence the Bank of America in 1904. His father came to California in 1849 for the gold rush. It is more than possible that the father came with brothers, one of whom I assume is P.A. Giannini. There is no info in Bancroft. Est. $200-500 (Image)
