Bouton's Franklin City Despatch Post, 1847 (2¢) black on green, manuscript "Bouton" (Scott 16L1a), three good margins, cut just to inner frame line at the top, uncancelled, as always, on a complete 1847 folded letter from New York City to North Stamford, Ct. with a red "New-York/5 Cts" c.d.s., Jun 25; last name of addressee eradicated, "stamp with small repairs at top and bottom left and additional creases and scuff" as per the accompanying certificate; cover Very Fine and attractive. The interesting, easily read three-page letter is from a struggling teacher to his brother, urgently requesting a loan of $10, ex Chapman, Erivan. Scott $7,500.
