image Confederacy, New Orleans, LA, M. Condran & S.L. James, One Load of Clay Token. Black on green 65x42mm cardboard token, manuscript "Ø" at center apparently indicating redemption, Very Fine and rare CSA era token.
Estimate; $500 - 750.

Mr. Condran was a contractor and Mr. James was listed in the 1861 New Orleans directory as the Superintendent of the New Orleans City Railroad with its headquarters at the corner of Canal and Royal Streets. A similar example of this token sold in Heritage Auctions Jan. 8th 2014 sale, lot 15332 for $1,175.
