Mitchellsville, sometimes designated Mitchellsville Station by the P.O. Dept., was on the Louisville & Nashville Railroad, near the Kentucky state line. Thus Union Troops, if not stationed there, frequently passed through or camped there. It was listed in the July 1862 issue of the U.S. Mail & P.O. Ass't as a Tennessee Post Office recently reopened, and it operated as a Union Army Occupation office, except when closed by military activity, throughout the war. US$100-150 (Image)
