Descending Balloon illustration on envelope franked 1851 3c tied by Akron Ohio cds, cover with bit of wrinkling at left and some light aging and the Pennsylvania address has almost faded away but the illustration not at all affected by age, overall Fine and attractive; pictured in Schoendorf (fig 19, pg 20) and in accompanying text he claims this cover to be the "earliest aeronautical stationery of America" known to him and may be ascribable to Richard Clayton (Image)
