Symbol: S
Cat No: 406//423
1912-14, Washington-Franklin sheet stamps, 2¢ to $1, "COLONIAS" (Portuguese Specimen) overprints (Scott 406//423), ten values comprising #406-407, 414-419 and 422-423 (unclear which watermark the 50¢ has, so we assumed the lower Scott value), each with straightline "COLONIAS" overprint in blue/violet or magenta, affixed to page (cut-outs from original Portuguese UPU ledger book); stamps generally fresh and attractively centered with clear strike of the overprint; small scuffs at bottom of $1, generally Fine to Very Fine, the Portuguese replaced their "Ultramar" overprint with "COLONIAS" in 1911, extremely rare, and quite possibly unique.
