Cat No: 366
1909, 15¢ pale ultramarine, bluish paper (Scott 366), face-free indistinct, possibly non-contemporary cancel, completeness of color, impression and perforations upon striking grayish paper, within balanced borders; natural inclusion speck as often with these experimental papers and is not mentioned on the accompanying certificate, Very Fine to Extremely Fine, the cancel is indistinct and therefore the accompanying P.F. certificate states "decline opinion as to whether the cancel is contemporary". We also weren't there at the time the cancel was applied, used examples are exceedingly rare and so much scarcer than mint, sold on its own merits, Last offered in Cherrystone Sale #420, Lot #359, with 2009 P.F. certificate. Scott $16,000 Estimate $3,000-4,000 (Image)
