image 1869, 10¢ yellow (Scott 116), Extremely Fine example of the stamp on large part folded letter sheet (bottom panel cut away, probably reduced at left) sent Sept. 15, 1869 from Baltimore to St. Iago, Cuba; stamp cancelled by red Baltimore Foreign Mail bullseye with matching postmark alongside; front also shows same-day blue two-ring "Stirling & Ahrens/Baltimore" chop; endorsed "p Eagle" with black oval handstamp ("NAI"?); ink erosion and "ba" of "Cuba" missing from address panel, vertical file fold through postmark, but a beautiful stamp and appealing use, Very Fine despite the faults, the sum greater than its parts.
