Steamer R.C. Wood - Vicksburg, Miss., Letter from Watson H. Anderson on a U.S. Christian Commission letter sheet datelined "On board the steamer R. C. Wood, Vicksburg, Miss. April 1, 1865"; in his last letter to his family, Anderson tells of having chronic diarrhea for the last month, adding that "I doubt I would weigh 90 pounds." On the final page headed, "Cairo, Ill., April 6, 1865" Anderson expresses doubt that he will make it home and notes that he is so weak that the letter is actually being written "by a delegate of the Christian Commission". A final note from his nurse at Jefferson Barracks, Mo. [not present] to his sister reports his death on April 8, 1865. Multiple toned spots, Fine. The only P.O.W. correspondence to or from the R.C.
