Instant and has been of worst consequence to this Island than an invasion of French and Spaniards, our estates have been left without white people and no supplies of any kind could be sent them" Note: The most important slave revolts first broke out at a plant in northern St. Mary, their leader was a Coromanti (gold slave) known as "Tacky". Regiment at Spanish Town, rated "2/3" to Kingston, 7½d. from Kingston to Spanish Town on the Leeward Road and from there redirected to Port Antonio back through Kingston on the Northern Road at a charge of 1/3d., very light oval-framed "paid/at/bradford" in red and with "port antonio" at left, despatch datestamp on reverse.
