Set of Two Different Stamp Affixing Machines, one is "Commercial Controls Corporation / Rochester N.Y." (very fine) and the other, older one is "Multipost No. T / Patented / AUG 8 and DEC19, 1911, etc. Multipost Corp. Rochester, N.Y." appears to be functional but has one broken part that we can see. These were used early in the life of coil stamps to moisten, cut, and affix coil stamps to envelopes or mail. The lot includes a large cover which the owner claims has three Canadian Admiral issue coil stamps affixed by a Multipost machine, mailed at Toronto (from an Insurance company) in 1916. Also included is the book "The Multipost Company History, Machines and Markings", by Maurice / Payne / Holmes (1997) and two test coil pairs, used to test these machines, Scott #TD37 and TD88. Antique Cast Iron and Brass Post Office Balance Counter Scale, circa late 1800s to early 1900s, featuring the Canada Post Office ("Canada P.O.") marking in relief on the base. The body is cast iron with one solid brass beam and iron sliding weight. One tray is made of cast iron while the other one is curved and made of copper, hinting that its primary function was to weigh newspapers. Scale is showing signs of wear, with what appears to be original paint, though missing in spots and with some oxidation. Great addition for the postal artifact collector, or to decorate a stamp den.
