image 1898 July, Indian Frontier Campaign, Tirah Expedition. Scarce "F.P.O.1 /No: 4A/11 JL 98" bridge cds on a cover to Bombay fw QV ½a. A rare and attractive exhibition item from this short lived period of military occupation. Tirah Field Force was sanctioned in 1897 by Government of India to put down rebillion by Afridi tribe in Kohat region close to Khyber Pass. Despite the fact th at nearly 60,000 troops were engaged in this expedition it is only quite recently that covers from it have been recorded. Suggested Bid $800-1,000 (Image)
