image FEATURED LOT - LAKE TANGANYIKA NAVAL EXPEDITION 1915 unique collection of GLASS PHOTO PLATES from the Tanganyika Naval Expedition, showing overland transport and launching of the HMS Mimi and HMS Toutou - two armed motor boats of the Royal Navy crucial in the following Battle for Lake Tanganyika. The boats were transported to South Africa and from there by railway, by river, and by being dragged through the bush by teams of oxen and steam tractors, to the lake. The photo plates showing the transport of the boats by steam tractors, their launch & sail, British & native soldiers, camp scenes, native scenes, hunting scenes etc. Fine condition, a fascinating lot of a great historical importance.
