image Old Time Collection of Mint and Never Hinged New Zealand and Area, 1903-1940, a lovely collection displaying rich and vibrant colours not often seen in these issues. The collection consists of many hundreds of stamps, including sets and partial sets, and includes representation from Aitutaki, Cook Islands, Niue, Penrhyn, and Samoa. The collection starts with New Zealand, ranging from Scott #179/241, with a few Semi-Postals and Airmail stamps. A few highlights include Scott #s: 182, 182a, 183 (c.v. $322 total), B3-B4 Smiling Boys (c.v. $200 total), C1-C5 (c.v. $155 total), O76-O86 blocks of 4, with plate numbers (c.v. $390 total). Catalogue value for New Zealand totals $2,002. The collection continues with Aitutaki, ranging from Scott #1/36 (includes #12-13, c.v. $117 total); Cook Islands, ranging from Scott #48/111, and includes #80-83 (n.h., c.v. $213 total), #103-106 (n.h., c.v. $320 total); Niue, ranging from Scott #8/72 (includes #48-52, c.v. $179 total); Penrhyn, ranging from Scott #13/31; Samoa, ranging from Scott #104/183, and includes used War Provisionals on 3 pieces #104-109 (missing #108, c.v. $304 total), #156-159 (n.h., c.v. $183 total), #175-178 (n.h., c.v. $150 total). Catalogue value for the collection totals $5,100 (catalogued as mint hinged). Online scans show a representation of the collection. A cursory check indicated stamps are lightly hinged onto pages, leaving a few with little to no hinge traces once removed. Overall fine to very fine. From the estate of a collector who stopped collecting during World War II, and whose albums have not been opened until now. (Image)
