Fort Laramie, N T, Jul 1. Balloon cds on cover to Newton, Iowa, original stamp excised and 1861 3¢ rose with target killer added, with original letter from a man to his sister datelined "Ft Laramie Idaho Ter, Jun 28th 1864," with interesting content…There is a heavy emigration on the road mostly for Idaho, I do not anticipate any trouble from the Indians although they are pretty saucy and have committed some depredations along the road…Write to me at Virginia City, Idaho., Very Fine appearance, with 2010 P.F. certificate. The Fort Laramie Post Office was transferred from Nebraska Territory to the original Idaho Territory when the latter was created in 1863. The Post Office continued to use "Nebraska" postmarks while in Idaho Territory. Est. $100-150 (Image)
