1853 4d red orange Queen Victoria Imperforate. The first two stamps of Tasmania were printed locally by H & C Best to meet demand before the stamps ordered from England would arrive. The rates were 1d for town letters and 4d for ship letters or transmission inland. This used four margin example has a barred numeral 64 of Hobart, likely printed from plate 2 and is fine-very fine.
