Australia, WWII Military Forces Mail, Correspondences & Censored Covers, several hundred covers predominantly made up of several correspondences (with contents) sent home by soldiers stationed at military camps within Australia during WWII. There is also a handful of WWI covers. Many items are honor envelopes on YMCA, Salvation Army and Comfort Fund envelopes and have a wide variety of FPO, Naval and Military Camp postmarks with many Australian Imperial Forces censor markings and Concessional Rate handstamps. Most of the value is to be found in a group of about 170 covers with many scarce datestamps described and organized according to Proud's publication History of the Australian Military Postal Services. This group includes covers from far-flung Australian bases, Papua & New Guinea, Japan, Palestine and Egypt. Small range of covers mostly going to the late 1950s which appear to be from Australian forces stationed abroad in Asia. Also included is a small group of about 30 censored commercial covers to the US, Europe and New Zealand. Condition runs the gamut from fine to faulty as is to be expected for similar wartime related lots and correspondences. Lot worthy of further inspection and could provide hours of interesting research, especially the correspondences for military- and wartime-related content. Shipping charges apply - weight 8.2 lbs.
