The lot begins with an assortment of mint and used Kangaroo and King George V heads issues with a spot check indicating Scott #s 48-53 (missing #52, m.h., $420 total), 72-76 (m.h., c.v. $229 total), 96-98 (m.h., c.v. $112 total), 129 with SPECIMEN overprint. The lot continues with mint and used, including sets and partial sets, cataloguing $20 and up, and back of the book material including Scott #s M1-M7 (m.h., c.v. $209 total), O1-O2 (m.h., c.v. $285 total), O6-O11 (c.v. $147 total). The lot includes representation of mint and used of each Australian State with a spot check indicating Scott #s New South Wales 13 (used, c.v. $180), 15, (used, c.v. $120), 31 (used, c.v. $125); South Australia 2 (used, c.v. $90); Tasmania 84 (used, c.v. $125); Victoria 193/204 (m.h., c.v. $239 total), along with an assortment of Western Australia Swans and Queensland Chalon Heads. The lot also comes with 2 stockbooks of many hundred mint and used New Zealand, primarily ranging from 1858 to the 1960s. A good lot for the specialist or dealer with many potential finds. image Collections of Mint and Used Australia and Area in Two Scott Specialty Albums, 1913-1992, consisting of several hundreds of stamps, primarily in black mounts, on album pages. The first album begins with a selection of primarily used Kangaroos and King George V issues (not necessary in the proper order), with a spot check indicating Scott #76 (m.h., c.v. $110), #100 (used, c.v. $100). The lot continues with mint and used sets up to the 1930s, including Scott #166-179 (mint and used set, c.v. $120 total), with primarily mint and never hinged thereafter. The collection includes mint Officials with Scott #s: O3-O5 (m.h., c.v. $162 total), O12-O14 (m.h., c.v. $103 total). Face value totaled $423 (counting 15c and up to $20 only). the second album contains mint Christmas Island, ranging from 1958 to1985 (appears complete); Cocos Islands, ranging from 1963 to 1985 (appears complete); Norfolk Islands ranging from 1956 to 1985; Papua New Guinea ranging from 1932 to 1981, and small selections of used Australian States. The Australia collection comprises two volumes and has a total of 3,000+ stamps, with 1,300+ of these coming after the year 1999. There are also 60+ souvenir sheets for this period. For New Zealand there are 1,500+ stamps in total, again more heavily concentrated in the modern to recent period, with 25+ souvenir sheets after 1999. image Extensive Old Time Collection of Mint Australia, 1913-1935, on quadrille hand written pages, with stamps organized by issue date, and contains owner's notations of varieties, papers, and perforation types. The collection has particular strength in Kangaroos and King George V Heads. Just some of the highlights include Scott #s: Kangaroos 1-11 (5 (x2), 6 (x2), c.v. $1,659 total), 38-43 (40 (x2), c.v. $1,440 total), 45 (x2), 46, 47 (x2), 48 (x2), 49, 50, 51, 52 (x2), 53, 54, 57 (c.v. $2,120 total), 96-101 (c.v. $928 total), 121, 122, 125, 127, 128 (c.v. $1,185 total), along with the 5sh Sydney Harbour Bridge (c.v. $460). Every page of the collection is scanned online. We note a few of the stamps hinged to black background will have some gum disturbance (only in cases showing multiples), along with blocks having multiple hinges in some cases. A beautiful collection with Post Office fresh colours and overall fine to very fine. From the estate of a collector who stopped collecting during World War II, and whose albums have not been opened until now. (Image)
