1787 (Feb) short letter (four-page folio) signed by Friedrich Wilhelm II (Frederick William II, King of Prussia from 1786-97) written to Karl Abraham Zedlitz (Freiherr von Zedlitz und Leipe (1731-93) Prussian minister of education who was instrumental in establishing mandatory education in Prussia, which served as a model for the public education system in the United States). The short letter from the King of Prussia, to his Minister of Education and Ecclesiastical Affairs, expressed the king's desire for his minister to issue a "University Stipend" (Image)
