Folded formular letter addressed to Général Ladmirault, Aix la Chapelle (Aachen) in Prussia, postmarked "Paris, R. d'Amsterdam, 1 Dec. 70" double circle, franked with 20c + 40c Empire Lauré tied by two strikes of numeral "18" star cancels, no arrival backstamp as usual, Very Fine and scarce, carried by the Franklin.

During the Franco-Prussian War, Général Ladmirault was placed in command of the IV Corps of the Army of the Rhine, taking part in the battles of Mars-la-Tour and Saint-Privat; during the latter he repulsed the German attack at Amanvillers.
