1857 Mortimer UC Cover, mailed on JUL.24.1857 (double broken circle with manuscript date is the only known example) on cover rated PAID 3 to Osprey. Mortimer only has one other known postmark, a "C.W" hammer dated in 1859. The post office was open only from 1857 to 1859. Fine and unique. (Image)

Six 3c Small Queen Covers with Better Grey County Town Cancels, Griersville U.C (FEB.19.1976 manuscript double broken circle is the latest recorded date), Egremont U.C (OCT.7.1871 double broken circle in purple, with fancy cork cancel), Blantyre C.W (NOV.15.1873 manuscript broken circle is the only recorded strike for this hammer, and the earliest postmark from this town), Pomona C.W (nude strike is the only recorded strike, on cover to Toronto, via Bunessan ONT broken circle dated FEB.2.1878, earliest by 20 years), Feversham U.C (APR.25.1875 manuscript double broken circle is the earliest of only two strikes recorded), Heathcote C.W (JAN.2.1878 manuscript broken circle on advertising corner card cover). 1846 Port Maitland Manuscript Precursor Postmark, on OHMS Folded Letter, mailed from Port Maitland on NOV.13.1846, with a manuscript (pre-postmarking device) postmark, the latest date of only two recorded. The bluish "On.H.M.S." folded letter is datelined "Custom House / Port of Dunnville" and is addressed to the Receiver General in Montréal and has three red double circle datestamps on back: Dunnville NOV.13, Hamilton NOV.14 and Montréal NOV.21. Extensive Collection of Hastings County Postal History, all displayed alphabetically in two enormous binders, with just under 500 covers / cards. This collection is quite extensive and includes many better items such as a large quantity of ERD and LRD, many scarce to rare postmarks from post offices only open for a short time, a 1876 Bridgewater fancy "B", Melrose C.W. (only known example), the only known and until now unrecorded Rawdon manuscript dated the year the post office opened in 1832, three early Rawdon UC double circles (incl. ERD and LRD), the only known Shannonville CW, a nice Stirling squared circle on registered 8c Numeral cover, an 1829 SFL datelined Ernest Town to Thurlow with Kingston straightline postmark on back, just to name a very few. The collection is loaded with stampless covers and letters, also many registered (incl. F1, F2, etc.), many types of postmarks, and more, we highly recommend viewing it in person to better appreciate all the material that is included, and its value.
