Sale No: 38
Lot No: 1262

Cat No: Collection

image Mint Collection on Lindner Hingeless Pages, starts off strong with #s 1, 5, 7, 8, 11, 11A (x2), 12A, 13, 15A, and from #19 the collection is complete to the end, including the better surcharges, etc. The back of the book is also strong, with #s C2, 3, 6-19 plus all the dues including perf changes. The collection has many unused (no gum) stamps at first, and from 1880 we have catalogued all as mint hinged, assuming that condition based on a spot check (there may be some NH). A clean collection, with some of the expensive Pence having either faults or no margins, still overall fine or better with many very fine stamps. All pages were scanned online. (Image)

image Remainders of a Large, Mostly Mint Collection, 1897-1947, all displayed in black mounts on 32 old time written-up pages. The collection starts with the 1897 Royal Family set, featuring singles and blocks, with shades, including a ½c block of 14 from bottom of sheet, block of 8 of the 1c carmine, block of 25 of the 2c orange, and more. The 1c King James I issue of 1910 is represented in several blocks, mostly of four but one block of 10 and one block of 15, showing many varieties, with lovely hand-drawn illustrations, all listed in Unitrade. These followed by several blocks of the 1920 provisional surcharges, with some varieties indicated, then studies of the various next issues, including a #211 pair with and without watermark, some perforation varieties (comb and line), a few plate blocks of four, and ends with a page showing the complete set of Postage Dues. Very nice quality material, with a mix of hinged and never hinged (many are pencilled-in), and also a few used showing better postmarks, etc. Overall fine to very fine. (Image)
