image Collection of Interesting Postmarks on 1877 to 1896 Issues, with a group of 16 stamps postmarked with the "235 in grid" (Lacelle 175, recorded used in St John's from Apr.1873 to Feb.1888), as well as a few rouletted issues including a gorgeous 3c with target plus a 3c and 5c each with "2" rate handstamps. Also noted a 1c grey brown Prince of Wales with a St John NB "1" in grid duplex, a group of 5c Harp Seals, one with a Québec City 1891 duplex, one with a Portsmouth England "625" in grid, a nice segmented cork of squares (first we've seen) and others. Overall fine or better group with a few small faults. (Image)

image Interesting Group of 1941-1944 "Second Resources" Issues Varieties, all purchased directly from Kasimir Bileski, and accompanied by his in-depth descriptions and history. The lot includes Unitrade #253 (6 shades and papers, including a "rare" pale grey), #254 (4 different shades including "rare very deep green" and "error of colour apple green", plus an inverted watermark), #255 (3 different shades, an inverted watermark, and two trial colour issues with a different hatching in the background, Walsh 238ak $300, 238aka $175), #259, 261, 263, 265 with 3 to 6 "trial colour" shades (per Bileski), plus a vertical plate proof pair in black for the 4 values, on medium thickness ungummed paper, without security punch. Two of the latter are listed in Walsh as #s 242n ($350), 246v ($175), and the 14c and 25c appear not to be listed. The lot also includes a Unitrade #192 plate proof single in black with defacing lines (Walsh #183f, $180). An interesting group, all purchased by Bileski from the Chairman of Perkins Bacon's portfolio. (Image)
