1866 (Oct. 22), Mixed Franking Cover from Fishersville, NH, to Hong Kong, China, franked by Blackjack, 3¢ rose and horizontal pair of 24¢ dark gray (#73, 65, 78b), all cancelled by diamond grids with Fishersville postmark alongside; addressed to Asa Emery aboard the USS Wachusett at Hong Kong, care of American Consul, and endorsed "Via Marseilles" top left and "Paid 53" in red at left; front with red "1d" British Colonial and "48" credit handstamps (the latter tying the 24¢ pair), with "London/8/PAID/A/5 NO 66" postmark at bottom; reverse with red "Boston Br. Pkt/24/Oct/Paid" postmark and poorly struck Hong Kong receiver in black; original letter (with news from home) included; cover reduced slightly at left on opening, right 24¢ stamp with corner crease of minor importance, Very Fine, an attractive cover, and a rare example of the 53¢ rate to China through British Mails via Marseille, ex "Sevenoaks", DuPuy.
