Roe of the 102nd New York Volunteers Regiment, written for a soldier and addressed to Sarah at LANGFORD-MASS with 3¢ single deficiency postage due, also an 1862 unpaid letter written for a soldier by a Colonel in the New Jersey Volunteers Regiment, posted at WASHINGTON-DC and addressed to BLOOMFIELD-NJ with a single deficiency 3¢ postage due, plus an 1864 cover from soldier Albert Patter located at the PATERSBURG-VA Army Camp then posted at WASHINGTON-DC, a copy of the letter is enclosed (the soldier related consignor kept the original), it describes building a fort near the enemy lines with daily incoming shells, soldiers dying from the poor sulfur contaminated water and the heat, rebel raids into Maryland with General Grant dispatching troops to counter ++, scarce items all sleeved, described in detail, and priced conservatively to over $410 US ($550 CDN), F-VF est ($100+ US) (Image)
