1816 HALIFAX to MOOSE-ISLAND-NS, an unpaid SFL from HALIFAX noting a Flurion handstamp dated JAN15-1816, the Halifax post office charged 9d for the delivery to the nearest Way Office, then the standard 2d was charged to forward the letter to Moose-Island for a total rate of COLLECT 11d, at this time there were no post offices in either Mahone-Bay, Lunenburg or Moose-Island but the letter had to eventually travel through both Mahone-Bay and Lunenburg, a rare early routing and rate, F-VF est ($225+ US) (Image)
