May 6" circular datestamp on narrow blue cover to military address in Richmond Va., Extremely Fine, a pretty cover, with 2000 C.S.A. and P.S.E. certificates, the latter as Dark Rose, with 2013 P.F. certificate as Deep Rose, whatever the correct shade identification (Dark Rose, Deep Rose or Carmine) this is a vivid and wonderful color (Image)

10c Deep Carmine (5a var). Huge to large margins all around, intense color in the deep end of the Carmine shade spectrum, tied by light strike of "Knoxville Ten. Jul. 16" circular datestamp on oatmeal cover to Kingston Tenn., 1862 docketing at left, barely reduced at top where opened

EXTREMELY FINE. THIS IS ONE OF THE FINEST EXAMPLES OF THE 10-CENT CARMINE ON COVER. A MAGNIFICENT CONDITION RARITY.

The spectrum of Carmine shades, ranging from bright to deep, ends with this intense shade. Its existence has caused the current generation of certificate issuers to fumble the correct classification of Carmine versus Rose shades.
