EXTREMELY FINE. A VERY RARE SOUND AND BEAUTIFULLY CENTERED EXAMPLE OF THE ONE-CENT SECOND ISSUE REVENUE WITH INVERTED CENTER. THIS IS THE FINEST WE HAVE OFFERED.
A review using Power Search reveals how elusive this invert is in sound and centered condition -- especially with a manuscript rather than herringbone cancel. Among the approximately 15 records (accounting for duplicates) of Siegel sales of Scott R103a since 1993 and in Rarities sales since 1966, not a single used example compares favorably to this stamp.
With 2012 P.S.E. certificate (Image)

A review using Power Search shows that most examples of this invert are either off-center or have small faults. (Image)

VERY FINE. A DESIRABLE SOUND EXAMPLE OF THE CELEBRATED $500.00 "LARGE PERSIAN RUG". ONE OF THE MOST VISUALLY STUNNING AND ELABORATELY ENGRAVED STAMPS IN ALL OF PHILATELY.
Only 210 were issued, and it is safe to say that most examples are faulty to some degree. A document exists from July 24, 1874, detailing the purchaser of each. The Kingsley census records 76 copies, and our expanded census, available at our website at https://siegelauctions.com/census/us/scott/R133 , contains 88.

FINE APPEARANCE. A RARE EXAMPLE OF THE $1.00 THIRD ISSUE REVENUE WITH INVERTED CENTER. ONE OF THE GREAT REVENUE RARITIES.
In his privately published census, Larry Lyons records a total of 26 copies (one is known outside the census). Of these, five are on one document and one is on another, leaving 20 copies not on documents. Of these, virtually all have faults and most have poor centering.

EXTREMELY FINE. A VISUALLY STRIKING EXAMPLE OF THE RARE $5.00 PROPRIETARY STAMP ON VIOLET PAPER. AMONG THE FINEST WE HAVE OFFERED.
According to Introduction to U.S. Revenue Stamps by Richard Friedberg, beginning with the 1871 revenue issues, the government provided for two classes of revenue stamps, one for documentary issues and one for proprietary articles, such as medicines, matches, perfumes, playing cards, canned foods etc. Kingsley records just 119 copies
Most examples of the $5.00 have faults (many quite severe), due to the stamp’s large size and the nature of its use. The example offered here, with its outstanding physical attributes and essentially sound condition (the perf creases are almost undetectable), is one of the finest extant.

VERY FINE APPEARANCE. AN ATTRACTIVE EXAMPLE OF THE $5.00 PROPRIETARY ON VIOLET PAPER.
Examples of the $5.00 Proprietary Issue almost invariably have faults, due to the stamp's large size and the nature of its use. The Kingsley book contains a table showing 2,109 stamps ordered and he records only 119 copies extant.
