COMMENTS: Only 75,940 Double Eagles were struck at the Philadelphia Mint in 1890, making this year one of the keys” of the series. Discoveries in the past few decades have brought s decent supply to market in grades up to MS62. However, from MS63 the 1890 becomes very scarce. NGC reports 27 at MS63 27 and 2 at 63+ (4 higher).
