Choice balance of corner card and lithographed advertising covers, 11 covers in total, two with all-over lithographed designs for wholesale grocer and bookseller, another with nearly all-over design for City Bank of Augusta, the others with corner cards of varying themes including a few fancy bordered (no colored cameo designs), a few minor flaws with only one faulty stamp, though the faulty stamp is on a very interesting cover for a marble dealer with illustrated enclosure depicting funeral monuments, overall Fine-Very Fine and desirable group (Image)

FINE AND SCARCE GROUP OF CONFEDERATE WALLPAPER COVERS. RARELY SEEN IN THIS QUANTITY.

Each of these were considered as individual lots, but we decided offering them together would afford a rare opportunity for the Confederate collector and could serve as the basis upon which to build.

1863 c ImageNorth Carolina Advertising and Corner Card Covers, Balance. 10 covers and one front, eight bearing stamps including 5c Green Lithograph (1), 5c Blue (4), 5c Blue, Local (7) and the rest 10c Engraved (11-12), each with either a corner card or an all-over design, including one for insurance and one for University of North Carolina (front only), the corner cards show a nice range including Illustrated Mercury, two different North Carolina Railroad corner cards, Adams Express, grocers, etc., stamp and cover flaws throughout but still a Fine appearing group (Image) E. $ 750-1,000

Approximately 45 covers, culled from a much larger group of North Carolina towns to select the best examples -- excluding the common Typographed and Engraved issues (except for better uses), many good stamps present, three No. 1 including one tied by red town cancel, four No. 2 including turned use with No. 7, fifteen No. 4 showing a wide range of uses, including in combinations, gutter pair, adversity, illustrated, border embossed, etc., two of No. 5, No. 6 on a reused U.S. entire, six No. 9 "TEN" (one used on back), fifteen of Nos. 11-12, all better uses including three turned covers with another engraved stamp on inside, a few used on top of or turned with U.S. postage, one Officially Perforated (11e), mixed condition with flaws to be expected or many of these would be individual lots, overall Fine, a desirable group devoid of the common cheap uses (Image) E. $ 4,000-5,000

1866 c North Carolina Towns, Cover Balance. More than 630 covers, arranged alphabetically by town, both stamped and handstamped Paid uses, the stamped covers largely 10c Engraved issues but there are plenty of Lithographed issues present as well as covers bearing a 2c and a 20c, exceptional range of towns with some better including Graham stencil-like marking, Carolina City, Company Shops, a great many others, both circular datestamp and manuscript town markings, no doubt some of these towns are extremely rare or unique, very mixed condition with faults the norm -- the town was paramount rather than condition when assembling this collection, overall Fine group which took many years to gather E. $ 5,000-7,500
