EXTREMELY FINE GEM. A SUPERB MINT NEVER-HINGED EXAMPLE OF THE 1894 2-CENT VERMILION ISSUE WITH STUNNING COLOR, BRIGHT PAPER AND PERFECT CENTERING.
Ex "Scarsdale". With 1983, 1999 and 2007 P.F. certificates (XF-Superb 95). By way of comparison, the P.S.E. Population Report contains none at this grade and only one higher (at 95J) (Image)
EXTREMELY FINE GEM. THIS IS WITHOUT QUESTION THE FINEST EXAMPLE OF THE 1895 3-CENT POSTAGE DUE, SCOTT J33, THAT WE HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED. IT STANDS HEAD AND SHOULDERS ABOVE ALL OTHERS. THIS REMARKABLE STAMP IS GRADED SUPERB 98 JUMBO BY THE PHILATELIC FOUNDATION.
The production problems experienced by the Bureau in its first job for the Post Office yielded many poorly centered stamps. This stamp is a true condition rarity in the finest attainable condition.
With 2005 and 2007 P.F. certificates (Superb 98 Jumbo). By way of comparison, the highest grade awarded in the P.S.E. Population Report is 95J (two copies). (Image)
EXTREMELY FINE GEM EXAMPLE OF THE 1895 30-CENT PALE ROSE POSTAGE DUE ISSUE, SCOTT J36b. THIS REMARKABLE STAMP IS GRADED SUPERB 98 BY P.S.E. -- THIS IS BY FAR THE HIGHEST GRADE AWARDED TO ANY SHADE OF THIS STAMP, AND IT IS THE ONLY EXAMPLE TO ACHIEVE THIS GRADE.
With 2014 P.S.E. certificate (Superb 98; SMQ $3,800.00). This is the highest grade awarded to any shade (the highest J36 is 85, none graded for J36a). No others share this grade. We are mystified as to why SMQ only assigns roughly a 4x premium for 98 versus 80 -- normally the premium is much higher, especially with low Population Report numbers (Image)
EXTREMELY FINE GEM. IN OUR OPINION, AND SUBSTANTIATED BY OUR EXTENSIVE AUCTION RECORDS, THIS IS THE FINEST MINT NEVER-HINGED EXAMPLE OF THE 50-CENT 1894 UNWATERMARKED BUREAU POSTAGE DUE ISSUE. NOT ONLY ONE OF THE MOST OUTSTANDING POSTAGE DUE STAMPS IN EXISTENCE, BUT ONE OF THE GREATEST OF ALL BUREAU ISSUES.
The 50c 1894 Unwatermarked Bureau Postage Due Issue is notorious for its typically poor centering. Only a tiny fraction of the total population exists with centering that could be compared with this example, and it is unlikely that any other has the margin width of this stamp or Mint N.H. gum. For the record, we have offered five Mint N.H. singles, none with margins and centering equal to the stamp offered here. The online records of The Philatelic Foundation contain only one additional example, with perfs almost touching at bottom.
With 2005 P.F. certificate (Superb 98) (Image)
EXTREMELY FINE GEM. A SUPERB MINT NEVER-HINGED EXAMPLE OF THE 50-CENT CLARET 1897 POSTAGE DUE ISSUE. THIS BUREAU ISSUE IS ONE OF THE RAREST POSTAGE DUES IN ANY CHOICE GRADE.
Ex Whitman. With 1995 P.F. and 2008 P.S.E. certificates (XF-Superb 95; SMQ $2,550.00). This is the highest grade awarded and no other examples share this grade (Image)
EXTREMELY FINE GEM. A STUNNING MINT NEVER-HINGED EXAMPLE OF THE 1912 50-CENT BUREAU POSTAGE DUE ISSUE. THIS STAMP IS GRADED XF-SUPERB 95 BY P.S.E., WHICH IS THE HIGHEST GRADE AWARDED. IT IS THE ONLY EXAMPLE TO ACHIEVE THIS GRADE.
With 2008 P.S.E. certificate (XF-Superb 95; SMQ $7,500.00). This is the highest grade awarded and the only example to achieve this grade. The next-highest grade is 90. (Image)
