921 E SG 25 image1933 (18 May) large cover franked with 1a, 12a and 1r chocolate & green, registered and flown to London, with blue Registered label at left, blue crayon and folded, well away from the stamps. The sender, Major Frank Holmes (1874-1947), known affectionately by Arabs as "Abu Naft" (the Father of Oil), was a British-New Zealander mining engineer, geologist and oil concession hunter, who represented the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah who signed an oil concession (covering the entire 15,800 square km of Kuwait for 75 years), with Major Holmes as his representative in London.
