1856, 5¢ red brown (Scott 12), stamp with crisp detail and strong color, margins large to just touched at bottom, tied by "New Orleans/Mar/13/La" c.d.s. to blue 1857 folded address sheet to Paris, France; face bears "Per first steamer via Liverpool" endorsement, neat "GB/1F60c" Anglo-French accountancy handstamp, bold "16" décimes due handstamp, and Apr. 21, 1857 Calais transit; reverse with "Boston/8/Apr/Br Pkt" and red British 21 AP 1857 transits, along with Paris Apr. 22 receiver; light horizontal file fold well away from stamp, Very Fine. Carried aboard the last sailing of the British Packet Service at the end of the "Three Months Period" (Jan. 1-Mar. 31, 1857) by the RMS Europa to Liverpool, thence to London (where the accountancy mark was applied, Liverpool not being an exchange office for Anglo-French mail), Calais and Paris, where the Apr. 21 datestamp and double-rate collection of 16 décimes were applied.
