Morris" first flight at top right, overstruck by red straightline "FREE" handstamp with matching Jan. 26 Washington City, D.C. postmark at left; docketed in pencil on reverse "From dear Augustus at Washington 26 Jany 1837"; vertical file fold through postmark, the letter itself with numerous splits along internal folds and lacking part of external page (no text loss evident), Fine to Very Fine, most likely Mathias Morris (1787-1839), Representative from Pennsylvania in the 24th and 25th Congresses (Mar. 4, 1835-Mar. 3, 1839).
