2600   imageAllied Occupation, "Variety Show" Riveting Mint Collection with Varieties, 1945-49, If you open up the Scott catalogue, a complete mint collection of the A.M.G. issue doesn't add up to all that much. But as any specialist armed with a Michel catalogue knows, there is way more to this issue and this lot explores the numerous varieties in color, gum and paper. Of course, there are the various perforations too, and some of these compounds can be quite scarce, such as one in this particular lot, MiNr. 32aCz (certified by Joe Bush). There are also some major misperfs and double perfs, as well as some eye-opening forgeries, like a tête-bêche sheetlet of the 8pf and a sheetlet of nine of the 80pf created by Peter Winter. And if you're also interested in blocks, we've got a bunch of them here, three additional volumes to be exact, two of which are for corner & inscription blocks, and the other for plate blocks, here too with a wide range of varieties in gum & paper, and diagrams pin-pointing the various plate flaws. A total of five hingeless Lindner albums in this engaging look at the storied issue, generally Fine to Very Fine, video flips of this entire collection can be accessed online. 2601   imageAllied Occupation, Engrossing Used A.M.G. Collection with Covers, 1945-49, Beautiful and meticulously laid-out collection in four hingeless Lindner albums, one volume housing a powerful used collection with plentiful varieties and three volumes with approximately 100 covers and additional unused postal stationery. Complete as far as the Scott listings, but open up the Michel catalogue, and things start to get really interesting. For the Washington printing, you will encounter such things as a double impression of the 3pf (MiNr. 1DD) and a variety of plate flaws, such as 3 III, 3 IV, 8 I, 8 III, 8 IV, all with certs. And if you thought there were no expensive varieties of the London printing, once again drill down to the sub-varieties in the Michel catalogue. Given the perf & paper variations, there will inevitably be better, and some are here, like 10Gy & 13Gy (both signed). The same goes for the Brunswick printing with 24Cz & 26bDz, both of these signed as well. And if you're into the postal history of post-WWII Germany, this is a collection to treasure with the vast majority of covers diligently described. Some covers of note include a registered, cash-on-delivery return receipt letter with mixed printings of the AMG issue along with the 84pf from the Kontrollrat issue, another with a complete set of the Washington printing on a registered letter to Hamburg along with four Strausberg locals, and yet another registered letter, this one censored by the British and mailed the last day of authorized use of the AMG stamps, franked with a 60pf Brunswick printing along with two values from the Kontrollrat issue. Video flips of this entire collection can be accessed online, generally Fine to Very Fine. Shipping charges apply - weight 18.4 lbs. Some better mint include #9N70-74 (with certificate), 9N81-83, 9N165-69. Hundreds of used blocks as well making this a very unusual offering, overall Very Fine, a flip of two volumes online as reference. Shipping charges apply - weight 51 lbs. 2603   imageGermany: Federal Republic, "Mental Block" Mind-Numbing Mint & Used Block Collection, 1949-2017, Beautifully presented in 25 volumes of hingeless Lindners, a MNH collection of many 1000's of blocks, most in duplication with either various plate positions or marginal markings, such as Hausauftragsnummer (HAN numbers) or with Reihenwertzahl (total value of row). Many full sheets too, and once we hit the 1990s, the highly collectible Zehnerbogen (blocks of ten). 100's upon 100's of used blocks as well, and for many of the earlier definitives, this brings up the topic of Waagerechte Paare (horizontal pairs) which sell at a premium. Better mint blocks include #679-82, B310-13, B320-23, B327-30, B332-33, B334-37, B338-41, C61-64. Extremely comprehensive from 1955-2002 with most everything present and catalogue value that's simply off the charts, overall Very Fine, a flip of two volumes online as reference. Specialized Collection of Mint & Used Definitives with Se-tenant Combinations, 1954-2006, Four hingeless Lindner albums with an extensive collection of definitives, from Heuss to the Flowers of the early 2000s, most with a mint & used copy side by side and duplicates featuring marginal markings, along with booklet panes, various Zusammendrucke, horizontal pairs, tête-bêche & gutter pairs, and mint & used coil strips of five, many in duplication with various control numbers. Just looking at the Heuss issue alone, we found such better as MiNr. H-Bl. 8X, WZ 15aIIIY, and large portions of Markenheftchenbogen, like a block of 40 from MHB 5. 2606   imageGermany: Federal Republic, "Meisterhaft" MNH Specialized Collection, 1949-2002, West German collections don't get much better than this. The main collection, laid out in Michel order in two Lighthouse stockbooks looks to be complete to 1994, and from then on, the souvenir sheets, both mint & used. And after numerous spot checks, not a single hinged stamp was to be found. On top of that, what really makes this collection special is the handling of the regular issues; not only are they complete (yes, the Posthorns are here), but also coils in strips of five, horizontal pairs, tête-bêche, booklet panes, and various zusammendrucke. Take the Heuss issue, for example; it's all here including the strips with control number (MiNr. 179R-86R, 260R, 263R), the panes, the relevant horizontal pairs and 50 different se-tenant combinations. Other highlights by Scott number include #665-66, 667-68, 669, 670-85, 671a, 675a, 686, 693, 698-701, 702-21, B310-13, B314-15, B316-17, B318-19, B320-23, B327-30, B334-37. Another binder is filled with complete booklets with such better as MiNr. MH 2-4, MH 6d-6g, etc. The final binder consists of stamps and covers commemorating the last days of the DDR and the reunification of Germany in 1990. 2607   imageGerman Democratic Republic, "Official Notice" Monumental Mint & Used Collection of Officials with Covers, 1954-83, A total of eleven hingeless Lindner albums with a collection of Dienstmarken like no other. And a Scott catalogue simply won't cut it for a holding like this; the first issue alone (Scott #O1-27) takes up more than an entire volume with variations on the watermark, emblem type and perfs, as well as spaces for mint, postally used and CTO. We then get into the ZKD issues (Zentraler Kurierdienst) and much of this will be uncharted territory, even for many who already collect the DDR. The ZKDs extend over multiple volumes with specialization in the 4-digit control numbers and many higher-priced items to be found throughout, for example, a used VD (Vertrauliche Dienstsachen) #2 with a BPP certificate, and mint & used copies of ZU (Zustellungsurkunde) #1. Also, an extensive collection of register labels used for official use, and four of the eleven volumes housing a collection of over 200 covers, the vast majority meticulously described with all pertinent information. And if you are into Zusammendrucke, three volumes of it almost entirely complete for every possible configuration. There's a volume with 30 full sheets, among them mint 2832-40 including the two Markenheftchenbogen from this series (MiNr. MHB 20-21), and seven more volumes with many hundreds of mint & used blocks and many better, like mint 48 and used B21 in a block of 12.
