2026   image"Outside the Box" Stupendous Modern Mint Collection, 1935-2021, There are collectors whose sole goal is to fill every blank spot in their album, not that's anything wrong to this approach. But then there's a collector, like the owner of this one, who added imagination and color by inserting sheets, errors and other varieties. In nine, like-new, hingeless Lighthouse albums, a modern mint collection of the highest order, complete to 2010 and only missing a few in the last decade. This includes the many Scott-listed perf & die cut varieties, imperfs, phosphor varieties, and most of the miniature sheets, even the high denominations, such as the express mail stamps, which push the total face on this lot to the outer limits. Coils are collected in line pairs, and it's no accident that just about every coil in the modern era sports a plate number. And here are just some of the errors featured in this lot: a vertical pair imperf between of #966a, imperf line pair of 1299b, a wild misperf on 1603 in a block of 20, and a double impression of the inscription on 2818a which is unpriced in Scott. Other better items include 803-34, 832-34 (center line blocks), 832-34 (plate blocks), 839-51 (line pairs), 1789Pg (proof of the John Paul Jones stamp in a pair), 2283c, 2967 (2 cross gutter blocks of 8), 3138, 4075 (uncut press sheet), and an exploded booklet of 4806 with proofs & die wipes. And let's not forget those high-value miniature sheets, the following in panes of 20: 2419, 2482 (2), 2544A, 2590-92, 2870 (2, one in sealed commemorative folder), 3095b (special die cutting), 3647A-48, 4018-19, 4144-45, 4268-69, 4378-79, 4438-39, 4511. And panes of 10 of 4717-20 & 4738-39. Also, some autographed covers including a letter with the signature of Gerald Ford during the time he was president. A big round of applause for the person who put this collection together! Very Fine, additional images online. Shipping charges apply - weight 62 lbs. (PDF for this Lot) (PDF2 for this Lot) (Image)
